needless to say, this costs me in the long run, so I just wanted I've come to terms with it, but what bothers me is that the HeadĬleaning Utility really drains the ink, even if it's just one
I own a 1280, and i've always had problems with my heads clogging up. I also think that generic inks clog a lot less, but than again it is all subjective experience with no scientific proof.
Please experiment and let us know what you think. I deducted that some of the streaking comes not from cloggs but from air getting into the ink channel whem the cartridge runs low. For me I noticed that when the ink cartridge is low on ink, it is worth putting new one right away and not clean over and over with a low ink running cartridge.
However looking all over the place I found out that some people reported that instead of cleaning and cleaning and cleaning over and over, wasting ink, it worked to run one cleaning cycle, and than let the printer to sit overnight, one more cleaning in the morning and the head was printing just fine, they deducted that soaking cleaned the head, and it is obviously the way to preserve some ink. Well, if you think about it thats what Epson needs, to make you buy more ink, so I doubt that software upgrade would help you save inks, not from Epson, thats for sure.
